FONAR/DB OEM Partnership, Melville, NY
In 1970, Raymond
Damadian, M.D. made the discovery that was the basis for magnetic
resonance (MR) scanning. With the aid of his post-graduate assistants,
Doctors Lawrence Minkoff and Michael Goldsmith, Dr. Damadian built the
first MR scanner. From that beginning, FONAR went on to introduce the
world's first commercial MRI whole body MR scanner in 1980. With the
introduction of its new FONAR Stand UP MRI, the company that invented MR
scanning just reinvented it. FONAR's partner for the last 15 years has
been Dunham-Bush and Gene Goodman at KMA Sales in Dover NJ.
FONAR MRI systems
each contain a Dunham-Bush model ACDS outdoor air-cooled chiller. The
chillers pictured on this page are part of FONAR's permanent R & D and
testing facility at its Melville, NY factory.
FONAR MRI units
achieve the highest resolution in the industry. To accomplish this, they
use larger and more powerful magnets, which demand greater cooling
capacity and very close temperature tolerance from the chiller.
The relationship
between FONAR and Dunham-Bush began in 1988 when FONAR chose DB as an OEM
partner because of its outstanding quality and workmanship. When the
Harrisonburg manufacturing facility closed, it was unclear whether ACDS
chillers would still be available. However, after receiving their first
six of many units ordered from Malaysia, FONAR is extremely impressed with
the quality of the chillers.
FONAR is especially pleased with the quality of the wiring on the new
units, which ensures ease of field servicing. They confidently rely on the
DB DIRECTOR microprocessor system for centralized communication with their
MRI systems, no matter where in the world they are located. |
