Burley High School, Charlottesville, VA

First the good news...Ron Bullard of Shultz and James Inc. in Richmond, VA got a great order for a Dunham-Bush Model ACDX chiller for the Burley Middle School in Charlottesville, VA. It was a flat spec. The owner - Charlottesville City Schools - asked the engineer to specify Dunham-Bush. They liked the Dunham-Bush product, liked the advantages of direct expansion technology and enjoyed a delivery advantage because they were located within a two-hour drive of the plant. Everything was submitted and approved the only thing not pinned down was the delivery date.

Now the bad news...due to the closing of the Harrisonburg production plant, Dunham-Bush couldn't deliver the product.

And now....the rest of the story: With none of the parties involved wanting to lose the order. Dunham-Bush scrambled.

The order was changed to an ACFX 330. The new design was submitted. The owners needed the equipment for their school, the engineer was impressed by the more efficient flooded technology and everyone agreed to go for it.

Ron Bullard tells it best, "I had no idea what to expect. I kept having this picture in my mind of who knows what with a little umbrella sticking out of it. Both the contractor and I were scared delivery time would slip past the required dates....and then it came. Right on schedule! I looked at it and was blown away - the fit finish and workmanship surpassed any Dunham-Bush product I had ever received. The control panel wiring was perfection."

Ron continues, "The start-up did have a couple of hiccups but I was pleased that Dunham-Bush stood right behind their equipment. Once the unit was up and running the school, engineer and contractor were impressed with its quiet operation. The entire experience was a totally pleasant surprise, one I look forward to repeating often in the future."
